Burnout..

I came back to training in December after my time off with focus and drive. I felt great in early season races and even though this winter was brutal, I was out everyday riding. In late June I noticed that I began to feel less motivated to ride/train/suffer. I tried to ride through it with the same intensity but it left me with less motivation. Last week I figured out that I was becoming burnt out both mentally and physically. My energy level has been VERY low and every single little effort hurts me.

I've decided to take 3-7 days off depending on what I feel like doing.

After my break I am going to really focus on training hard and smart and try to pull some results for the end of the season. Maybe I will update this more when I am back training.

1st goal: Cat 3 by june...check!

I began racing on May 17 of last year at Tour of Kensington Valley. I lined up to be blown out the back on the first climb. Cat 5 was where I stayed all of last year racing about 11 races. I realized how far I have come in all of one year when I was sitting out in the Cat 4 race at Kensington racing nearly twice the distance and feeling as if it was easy.

Over the winter I set the goal to become a Cat 3 by june and I did it! I thought it was a stretch but I suppose it is good if a goal is a stretch. Nothing like setting a goal and accomplishing it two weeks ahead of time.

Next goal: Cat 2 by the end of the season.

I know this will be very tough for me but with some hard work and dedication I think I can do it.

By the way, this is the day I set my Cat 3 goal....a 3.5 hour trainer ride.
